What are ATV Insurance Requirements

ATV insurance is required when you own all terrain vehicles. Every state requires a minimum liability insurance coverage for motor vehicles as well as ATV. Insurance laws for motor vehicles and ATVs differ from state to state.

They are collision coverage, comprehensive coverage, property damage coverage, bodily injury liability coverage, medical payments coverage, uninsured motorist coverage and custom equipment coverage. Bodily injury cover and Property damage cover compulsory in some states

Most of the states however require a minimum coverage for all vehicles. Bodily Injury Liability cover and Property Damage Covers are the two covers that are mandatory in many states. Insurance companies also specify insurance cover limits for each person covered under ATV insurance.  

Insurance companies insist that bodily injury liability coverage limits should be at least $100,000 per person in many states. Since insurance laws vary from state to state, each state has a minimum insurance cover specified as mandatory for any auto vehicle or ATV.  

Medical payments cover and Uninsured motorist covers required in New Hampshire

In states like New Hampshire, when you buy auto insurance or ATV insurance, you are required to purchase medical payments cover as well as uninsured motorist cover also. Medical coverage provides cover for medical payments for you as well as passengers traveling in your vehicle. A minimum amount of $1000 is required under this cover as per the New Hampshire state insurance law.  

Collision cover and comprehensive covers are not compulsory in some states. The same holds good for medical payments coverage and uninsured motorist coverage. Medical payments cover and uninsured motorist cover are optional in many states.  

Uninsured motorist cover pays the policy holder in case he or she is injured by a motorist who does not have insurance cover. UIM cover is compulsory in New Hampshire.  Covers which are optional in some states may be compulsory in other states and hence it is very much necessary to check state insurance laws in case you are taking ATV insurance. 

What are ATV insurance requirements? Besides insurance cover requirements there are other parameters like driving experience, past driving record and age that are very much important while taking ATV insurance.  A driver with many tickets is likely to face higher premium rates. Young people who are below the age of 25 years are considered to be high risk drivers and face higher premiums than compared to older drivers.
